RCM Level 3 Cello: Certificate Plan and Free Sample

An RCM Level 3 Cello plan should sit beside the current syllabus, errata and musicianship addendum. Shape the weeks around first shifts or string crossings with recoverable continuity, keep bass-clef scanning, string-weight balance and shift planning on the lower strings in your practice notes, and separate theory co-requisites from the practical room. Weeks 1–2
Confirm the current RCM Certificate Level 3 Cello requirements with your teacher. Write the exact syllabus edition at the top of the plan and separate repertoire from unseen tasks.
Weeks 3–4
Build a repeatable warm start around first shifts or string crossings with recoverable continuity. Keep one short pulse drill each session before polishing favourite openings.
Weeks 5–6
Give technical work its own slot. Randomise prompts where the format expects it, and log first attempts instead of restart stories.
Weeks 7–8
Protect sight-reading or supporting-test time twice a week. Use new lawful examples so familiarity does not pretend to be first-attempt skill.
Weeks 9–10
Run mixed weeks that touch every assessed component once. Mark measured question results separately from practice notes about playing.
Weeks 11–12
Do one calm full mock shape for the live or submitted format you actually booked. Repair only the highest-leverage fault, then recheck official entry rules.

For Level 3 technical study, a cello line in D harmonic minor uses the natural seventh just before the tonic. What restores the harmonic form?

Raise the seventh by a semitone while keeping the natural sixth.

Raise the sixth and keep the natural seventh.

Raise both sixth and seventh and keep them raised on the way down.

Flatten the tonic to create a leading note.
